Parts for the new mount

Parts for the new mount

For creating an MAF mount I used the following ingredients: an M42/MAF adapter, sheet of plastic 1mm thick (cut from a plastic box), the four long screws from the original mount assembly. I transferred the hole positions from the original mount to the M42 adapter, such that the focusing mark would remain the top of the lens when mounted on the camera. On the outer diameter of the M42 adapter I needed to file away a piece to make space for the small thingy that sticks out from the aperture ring on the lens (it is used to transmit the aperture information to the MC/MD cameras).

From the flange to film distances of M42, MC and MAF mounts (45.5, 43.5 and 44.5 mm respectively) and measures of the original mount/spacer assembly I could figure out that I would need about 2 mm of spacer between the M42 adapter and the lens. Since I don't have the tools to make these things from metal by myself, I decided to use a piece of plastic with a thickness of 1 mm. From this I cut/filed two pieces of the same shape as the M42 adapter and with the same holes.
